Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"A very talented chef is turning ordinary dishes into something special. The flavours are strong and may not appeal those who prefer more traditional food, but went far beyond my expectations. When we visited the cod was being served in a Thai style and to Michelin standard. It's a hotel, so the atmosphere isn't quite as intimate as some places, but the staff are very good. The prices are higher than some other places but the standard of food makes this good value."
"It's one of the best hotels in Portree, Isle of Skye. You can get the view of the loch Portree and the uphills which look like a masterpiece. The service is flawless and very helpful. Breakfast dishes are very limited but the taste and quality of foods and drinks are mouthwatering. Overall, it's the best. Highly recommend. Thanks. Cheers."
"Enjoyable dinner at the Rosedale Restaurant where booking in advance is highly recommended. Nice views on the loch. Had seafood chowder for the very first time and it was scrump-tious!! Don’t miss out on it. And the black garlic butter as well, yum!! Rest was ok"
"Delicious Scottish food in a spacious restaurant with view on the harbour. We had a perfect dinner and will come back! We hadn't booked in advance but luckily they had a free table and were happy to welcome us last minute :)"
"Beautiful resturant. Got a table with the water view during dinner. Gorgeous view, amazing service, and lovely dinner. Everything was so fresh and tasty! Appetizers: scallops; cauliflower and artichokes Entrees: hake risotto; venison; salmon Dessert: sticky toffee pudding; highland cheeses"
"The restaurant is a bit hidden but the kitchen does serve some great food. Most notable was the chowder which is up there with the best I've eaten, it's also a good portion. The soda bread and black garlic butter is delicious but the serving size is too small. For mains the chicken is good but nothing spectacular. The mussels were phenomenal, fresh with a lovely balanced white wine sauce. Overall food is an A-, service was b-, they accidentally gave us someone else's food even though it was what we ordered."
"The staff was extremely polite and attentive, they always noticed quickly when we were finished and asked several times if we wanted anything else. They also recommended some dishes and introduced them nicely. They also supported us in the decision if any sides are necessary or not. And the portions were very reasonably so the recommendation to share a side worked out perfectly. The sole with the sea salt was a little too salty and oily for me personally. The slow cooked lamb shank my husband had was extremely tender and really loosened by itself from the bone. Also a bit salty though. The atmosphere was very relaxing and elegant. We went there for another night and I had the salmon which was buttery soft and the seasoning was just right."
"Excellent food. I had the seafood linguine. My fiancé had the hake risotto. The mushrooms on toast were divine. My only problem was the fact that I could hear the chef whistling incessantly the entire time we were in. It really took away from the atmosphere of the place, which was otherwise peaceful with a beautiful view and pleasant music."
